Sobre o evento
In partnership with the Austrian Cultural Forum, the Roger Ballen Centre for Photography will host a keynote talk with Zink on 21 April 2026. In this talk, Zink reflects on what it means to create images today. Touching on both philosophy and practice, he unpacks the fundamental question of what art is, and what distinguishes it from photography. Through his own work and process, he explores photography as both a conceptual and intuitive medium that exists between thought and feeling.
The talk engages with the role of the artist’s state of mind, asking whether images emerge from constructed ideas or from more instinctive, emotional impulses, and how these approaches shape photographic series over time. Zink also delves into the psychology of photography, questioning whether it can function as therapy or a way to process experience, opening a dialogue about image-making as a mode of self-inquiry.
