Marimba Meditation with Magdalena de Vries

On 16 October 2024, escape the rat race and immerse yourself in the mesmerising sounds of the concert marimba. Join international award-winning marimbist Magdalena de Vries for a recital of meditative marimba music. The program includes transcriptions of works by Mascagni and JS Bach, alongside South African compositions commissioned for De Vries, including Pendants by Lise Morrison, which combines the warm wooden tone of the marimba with the slightly other-worldly sound of Austrian cowbells.

Magdalena de Vries is a Marimba One™ endorsed Premier Artist and is regarded as one of South Africa’s foremost multi-percussionists. As a marimba soloist, she has won an array of national and international awards and has performed to great acclaim in London, Tokyo, Cambridge (UK), Moscow, and Saint Petersburg.
